I wanted to get a few outdoor shots of the maternity shoot that I did. So the next day I took them out to a really cool...and a bit creapy location. The property is totally trashed and pretty nasty but there's some great little spots to take pictures. I didn't have much light left when we got there so I only snapped a few pictres. I'm hoping I'll get some more clients who are up for anything so I can try it out again. Paige, I just added these pictures onto you other gallery because there are only a few. Thanks for being up for my crazy idea!

Shooting Indoors
It's getting to cold outside to do a lot of shooting so I'm trying to get better at taking indoor pictures. I see all these photographers that are doing shoots in their clients home. I just can't figure out how they get such great shots without a flash. They obviously use natural light from windows but sheesh, I wish I had a bit more knowledge in this area. I'll have to start reading up. I attempted to use some light coming from the window in Tallula's room today and I think the pictures turned out pretty good. The problem is that as soon as I move her more than 2 feet from the window my lighting goes bad. I'm even using a really low aperature of 1.8 and I bumped my ISO up to 400. I hate to use a flash, it just looks terrible. Maybe I need to learn how to use it better. I'm showing you my weeknesses here, this just isn't one of my strong points. If you know me though, I'll research it to death and figure it out eventually! If you have insider information that will make my life easier than please...share.
Here's the shots near the window. The color versions are good but I really love the Black and White.
Here I moved her over to the bed and lost all my natural light. I had to use the flash and I'm not happy with the shadow and I miss the great catch lights in her eyes.

Loving Buckley...
My friend Natalie lives out in Enumclaw. She tipped me off to a great location near her in Buckley. It was a really great spot to do a shoot, I just wish it was closer. I told Alan (my hubby) that we need to move out to Buckley. Every time we drive out to my friends house in Enumclaw I can't stop my head from moving from side to side constantly. It's a curse us photographers face. We are always scouting new locations while driving. It's totally unsafe but I can't help myself. There's barns, feilds, old houses and brick walls out there waiting to be found and I'm determined to find them!
My friend Melissa and company!
This is Melissa and her beautiful family! We met back in college in Idaho over 12 years ago. She was my next door neighbor and we were both majoring in photography. It was a match made in heaven. Alas I was a slacker and I didn't stay in college long, I ran home and got married and started having babies. We lost touch. Low and behold Melissa marries a brillient man named Chris who plans to be a lawyer. They move to Washington so he can attend law school and we meet again! Melissa is an awsome photographer and has been a big part in my journey back to the camera. Here's a million pictures of her family because I can't narrow down my favorites!
Surrogate Cousins
We've been friends with these guys forever. My kids have grown up with these cutie pies. We really feel as though they're cousins more than just friends. My dear friend Nena is their mom and I'll throw in a picture of her so you can see how incredibly beautiful she is. She's also totally computer illiterate so she won't see this post at all. I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know how to turn a computer on! I'm doing their family pictures on Saturday so stay tuned.
MEET THE REAL DORA THE EXPLORER!
HE'S WAS NAMED AFTER GUNS! NENA GOT A FAT RING OUT OF THE DEAL.
SHE'S BETROTHED TO MY SON!
WE CALL HER GEORGE (don't ask me why, it's just catchy)
YA, I KNOW...FREAKEN BEAUTIFUL! I LOOK LIKE CHOPPED LIVER NEXT TO HER, DON'T WORRY I'VE COME TO ACCEPT IT.

Saying goodbye to the tracks!
So I'm going to have to say goodbye to the railroad tracks. While doing this shoot we were kicked off the tracks by a cop. He was very nice but made it clear that we were totally breaking the law. He pointed out that you can recieve up to a $10,000 fine for being on the tracks. I've decided not to risk it again. At least until I can find some totally unused and not in plain sight tracks. These railroad tracks my look like they are in the middle of nowhere but they are directly off of a very busy road. So I'm on the hunt for a new location!
